Planning Your Duck Hunting Trip to Downeast, Maine

Eiders Down clients have come from every state except Hawaii. They come to the Downeast Maine coast from Germany, Switzerland, South Africa, Canada, the Virgin Islands and more. They come for trophy Eiders and to fill their freezers and we are proud to say that more than 75% of our clients return to sea duck hunt with us again.

Here’s What You Should Come With…

  • Warm clothes, preferably water-resistant
  • Waders, hip or chest
  • Extra gloves
  • Thermos
  • Sunglasses
  • Rain gear
  • Small light
  • Gun, ideally an inexpensive one as you’ll be hunting around salt water (an extra gun is handy)
  • Gun cleaning kit
  • Ammunition (late season includes No. 1 and No. 2 Steel (steel shot is mandatory)
  • Ammo box

To make your travels easier, we encourage you to ship your gear ahead of time directly to the Eiders Down.

Getting to Downeast, Maine

Delta Airlines comes to Bangor International Airport regularly, and Bar Harbor Airlines comes to Trenton, 13 miles away. Gouldsboro and the surrounding area is one of the prettier places in Maine next to Mount Desert Island and Acadia National Park. You cannot but enjoy this natural beauty and the natural resources you will see here.
